All students are required to go to the library and find a book that is on their reading level. Students will know what their reading level is by an assessment called Star Reader. Students can determine the appropriate book by its color code. Students are required to read as a mandate of their reading class. Accelerator Reading, AR is worth 20% of the student's grade. To test for comprehension of literature, a computerized assessment will be administered and monitored by the teacher.

Parents, it is vitally important that you ensure that your child is reading nightly to increase their fluency, retention and comprehension. Ask your child questions about the book they are reading.

Note, students are allowed to go to any public library to check any book of their choosing.
