HEY, WE HAVE SOME WINNERS...
Viking 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year
Chemaria Sanders has been nominated as our Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Sanders has exemplified the characteristics of a 21st century teacher. Since her tenure at Oak Village, she has been nominated amongst her colleague for Teacher of the Month and now Teacher of the Year.

As social studies department chair, she goes far beyond the call of duty with teaching and her obvious leadership qualities in the department. As lead teacher, she sets high expectations for her students to be successful, this further supports why her students excel on district benchmarks and TAKS assessments. Mrs. Sanders has never missed an opportunity to model lessons for students’ success and to ensure that teachers in her department are delivering a quality of instruction. Consequently, last year, the social studies department made a 40% gain under her leadership as department chair.

In addition to her role as department chair, she too has taken the initiative in publishing our monthly campus newsletters. She spear headed our TAKS Night where she coordinated TAKS TALKS for parents to have a closer view of how and what the TAKS assessment targets.

Again, it gives me the greatest pleasure to have Mrs. Chemaria Sanders to represent our district as Teacher of the Year because she is a true example for EXEMPLARY.

CONGRATULATIONS Charity Morgan
Ms. Morgan is the proud teacher of these great students. She has worked diligently with all of her students and the end result is...WINNER!!!

Reconstructing Plan
As a result of Oak Village Middle Schools' failure to meet AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, the school is now in a restructuring mode. This means the school is planning fundamental reforms. The school encourages community input during the restructuring process.
